What you get

What we ask

This is not the right place for everyone.

  • You keep a shifted day — 13:00–22:00 or 18:00–03:00 PKT. It is not negotiable.
  • You write clearly in English — most client communication is written.
  • You have supported what you built, not only built it.
  • You will say 'I don't know' to a client, and then go and find out.
  • You want to be measured on outcomes rather than hours logged.
  • You are in Lahore, or willing to be there two to three days a week.
What we hire

Four disciplines, all senior.

We do not run a permanent list of vacancies. A role opens when the work and the right person line up, so the useful thing is to be on our radar before that happens — applications stay live and we come back to them.

AI/ML engineering

LLM applications, retrieval, evaluation and serving. You will own modelling decisions and defend them to a client's staff engineer.

  • Shipped machine learning to production, not only to a notebook
  • Strong Python, and an evaluation-first instinct
  • Comfortable talking to clients directly

Backend engineering

Python, Go or Node services under real load — inside a client's team, or on a project we are building end to end.

  • Years on production backends, and has supported what you built
  • Strong SQL and data modelling
  • Writes clearly in English; most of the work is written

Data engineering

Pipelines, warehouse modelling and data quality for teams whose analysts do not currently trust their numbers.

  • Orchestration, dbt and at least one major warehouse in anger
  • Cares about correctness over throughput
  • Can explain a data model to a finance lead

Cloud & DevOps

Terraform, Kubernetes, CI/CD and cost engineering across client environments. You reduce the number of things that can page anyone.

  • Platform or SRE work in production, not just in a course
  • Terraform and Kubernetes you would defend in review
  • Calm during incidents

We run two shifts: 13:00–22:00 PKT for East Coast clients and 18:00–03:00 PKT for West Coast. You will be assigned one. It is why we pay above local market.

Why the shifted working day?

Because it is the entire product. We run 13:00–22:00 PKT for East Coast clients and 18:00–03:00 for West Coast, and you are assigned one rather than rotating between them. Overlapping with US mornings is what clients pay a premium for, and that premium funds pay above local market. We would rather say so on this page than in week three.

What does the hiring process look like?

A 30-minute call, a paid take-home of about four hours reviewed by two engineers, a systems and debugging session, and reference checks with someone who managed you. Two weeks end to end, and you get a decision either way.

Do I work for Avexo or for the client?

You are employed by Avexo on a Pakistani contract, with our benefits and our reviews. You work day to day inside a client's team, and we make sure that stays a good arrangement for you.

What happens when an engagement ends?

You stay employed. We hold bench capacity deliberately so that a client ending an engagement is our commercial problem rather than your employment problem.

Is remote possible?

Hybrid, mostly. We want people in the Lahore office two or three days a week because the review culture and the mentoring do not survive full remote at our size. Fully remote within Pakistan is possible for genuinely exceptional senior hires.
